Naomi Campbell seems to have surprised everyone when announcing via Instagram on Tuesday that she is now the mother of a baby daughter. “A beautiful little blessing has chosen me to be her mother,” began the caption on an image of a baby’s feet resting in the palm of Campbell’s hand. The 50-year-old supermodel’s announcement was met with congratulations from the likes of Donatella Versace, Edward Enninful, Adut Akech, Marc Jacobs, and Riccardo Tisci. Rumors are flying that Emmanuelle Alt, editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris, may be out of a job. Condé Nast has yet to confirm or deny, but it would make sense, with multiple Condé titles ushering in new eras over the past few months. At Vogue alone, EICs at 5 international editions–India, Japan, China, Germany, and Spain–have left since November 2020. Angela Missoni Bow’s Out From Creative Director Role
After 24 years as the creative director of the Italian family brand Missoni, Angela Missoni is stepping down. The change in direction is primarily due to Missoni’s reorganization that Livio Proli CEO calls, “under the evolution of continuity.” Missoni will still keep her role as president of the company, and in the meantime, Alberto Caliri will take on the role of creative director with his first collection being showcased in Spring 2022. Caliri is set on widening the company’s target customer base and increasing collections with a diverse set of products, including entry-price pieces.[WWD]

As things return to whatever normalcy we can muster, a reawakening of harmful practices that clients, agents, and casting directors have contributed to, like sample sizing, comes to a head. On Instagram watchdog account @ShitModelMgmt posted a list naming people in the modeling industry that have allegedly pressured models to lose or gain weight in unhealthy, dangerous ways. The list urges named perpetrators to change these practices and an overall industry call to action that the runway sample size has to increase.

EmRata Reclaims Her Image By Selling An NFT For $175,000
This past April, Emily Ratajkowski joined the model NFT crew when she announced that she was reclaiming her image by auctioning off the infamous artwork by Richard Prince, who appropriated the image of Ratajkowski for his exhibition. Titled, “Buying Myself Back: A Model for Redistribution” the NFT was sold at Christie’s last week Friday for $175,000.
